His Excellency Ahmed Mo’allim Fiqi, Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation, along with other international leaders and dignitaries, attended the UNHCR Executive Committee High Commissioner’s Programme (ExCom) 73rd Session in Geneva. Somalia’s Ambassador to Switzerland, Amb. Ebyan Mohammed Salah joins the Minister.

During his remarks at this year’s session of the Executive Committee High Commissioner’s Programme, His Excellency Ahmed Mo’allim Fiqi outlined the difficulties confronting Somalia including drought, displacement and durable solutions among others.

Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, His Excellency Ahmed Mo’allim Fiqi alongside dignitaries from Somalia met with the Assistant High Commissioner for Refugees, Mr Raouf Mazou and the Director of the Regional Bureau, where they discussed displacements caused by severe droughts and terrorism threats, as well as the refugee crisis and the Citizenship Act.

His Excellency Ahmed Mo’allim Fiqi emphasized his commitment to durable solutions and ensuring that everyone in Somalia has a government-recognized identity.

His Excellency Ahmed Mo’allim Fiqi also met the High Commissioner of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Mr Filippo Grandi and discussed the ongoing humanitarian, refugee and IP situation in Somalia.
