The NGOs Department
The Department of Non-Governmental Organizations within the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation is responsible for regulating and supervising the activities of all NGOs in the country. The Department works to identify the basic needs of the various regions of the nation so that development and infrastructure projects can be allocated proportionally to their level of need. The Department informs interested organizations operating in the country of the priority development areas.
General responsibilities of the Non-Governmental Department include:
- The department is responsible for the development of policies and legislation governing NGOs.
- The department implements these policies and procedures to monitor all foreign workers employed in this field throughout the country.
- To coordinate directly with the ministries that issue licenses at the state level in order to determine which organizations operate in each member state.
- Registration of all local, international and non-governmental organizations.
- The implementation of all the activities of the department in accordance with the general work plan of The Ministry.
- Supervising, monitoring and verifying the activities and projects of non-governmental organizations
- Keeping track of and running quality-assessment procedures for NGO run projects.
- Facilitate cluster meetings every six months for all non-governmental organizations in order to review challenges and ensure the smooth delivery of projects.
- Prepare a quarterly report on the performance of its partners.
- Training and developing the capacity of the department staff.
- Securing and managing the assets and information of the department.
