The Deputy Minister of Interior

Formerly the State Minister of the Office of the Prime Minister, His Excellency Abdihakim Hassan Ashkir brings vast experience in and knowledge of diplomacy and public service to the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation. With an educational background in International Relations and Diplomacy, he previously served as the Somali Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as the State Minister of the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs of the Federal government of Somalia.

Further, he played a key role as a member of the Technical Committee of the September 2020 Somalia Election Agreement. In his new role as the Deputy Minister of Interior Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, Minister Ashkir brings with him skills in diplomacy, leadership, governance and conflict resolution.
