The Law mandating the Ministry

All departments of government are required to operate in accordance with The Law. The Ministry Interior, Federal Affairs & Reconciliation was first founded on June 3, 1962 by the ‘Ordinamiendo Governo’ law. Although there was a brief re-title to ‘Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development’ for eight years, the name of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was reintroduced by presidential decrees on March 14th 1984, and it has operated under ‘Law No. 30’ enacted on July 30, 1984, from that date.

Law No. 30’ states that following Recommendations and directives, The Ministry will work on the tasks assigned by Law NO.30 issued on 30.07.1984 on the establishment of the Ministry and other tasks assigned to it by regulations.

Currently, Somalia is a federal country, and the title is: The Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation as was established under the provisional constitution ratified on August1, 2012.
