The Ministry of Interior, Federalism and Reconciliation (MIFR) is the mother of ministries, and has priorities for the nation, including Elections, Stabilization, Federalism, Reconciliation, National Registration and other tasks, and is supported by National Committees and Institutions. It is important for it to have a department that acts as a face for these messages and works to enhance the legitimacy of the Ministry and the governments, and to ensure that the public has confidence in its activities. It is a department that chairs national committees and has personnel and equipment capacity that is important for the Ministry and the government. The department plays an important role in:
Chairing the Federal Government Stabilization and Communications Committee, which is responsible for coordinating and unifying the government’s messages on stabilization.
2. Training and equipping the Ministries of Interior of the State Governments of the country, coordinating the messages of the two levels of government.
3. Training the Media Departments of the Federal Government Ministries of Somalia.
4. Training the Media and Communications of the Somali National Army.
5. Raising awareness of campaigns and election messages.
6. Disseminating the activities and daily work of the Ministry.
7. Strengthening Public Relations and the Ministry such as; Building and maintaining the reputation of the Ministry both internally and externally.
8. Designing and implementing the Ministry’s awareness and campaigns on federalization, governance, reconciliation and other activities.
9. Disseminating Ministry Policies and Legislation, Building Trust, Promoting Transparency, and Managing Crisis
10. Conveying Messages from Traditional Elders.
