The Wadajir Framework High-Level Retreat

 

The Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation H.E Ahmed Moallim Fiqi is joined by Federal Member State Ministers of Interior, the Banadir Regional Administration, and the Interim Administration of SSC Khatumo at the Wadajir Framework High-Level Retreat.

 

This retreat is chaired by the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation H.E Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, with attendance from Ministers and DGs of Interior from Hirshabelle, Galmudug, Jubaland, Southwest, Banadir and the Interim Administration of SSC Khatumo.

Participants of the High-Level Wadajir Framework Retreat were welcomed by the Director General of the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation Aidarus Moallim Hassan.

 

Speaking at the Wadajir Framework High-Level Retreat, the Minister of Interior of the Southwest State of Somalia H.E Abdullahi Abdullahi Haji Hassan stated that the Wadajir framework is core to building effective local governments.

 

The Minister of Interior, Galmudug State, touched on the challenges faced by Galmudug when implementing the Wadajir Framework and the difficulties in establishing district councils. Adding that this retreat should serve as a base to find solutions to such challenges.

 

The Minister of Interior of the Interim Administration of SSC Khatumo H.E Abdisahal Jama Mohamed talked about the importance of a shared and coordinated local governance strategy.

 

Hon. Mohamed Ahmed Yabooh of the Banadir Regional Administration welcomed the Federal leaders to the capital and highlighted the importance of the Wadajir Framework as a national guide to local governance.

 

The Jubaland State Minister of Interior H.E Mohamed Ibrahim Ogle highlighted areas of the Wadajir Framework that require revision in order to better decentralize government services.

 

Local Governance expert Dr. Ali Ahmed (Malaaq) presented an overview of the Wadajir Framework during today’s High-Level Retreat. While the Ministry’s Local Governance Advisor Sadia Mohamed took participants through the outcomes of the Consultation and Review Workshop of the Wadajir Framework which took place earlier this year.

 

The Wadajir Framework High-Level Retreat was concluded after three days of fruitful discussions and presentations.
