The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia H Hamza Abdi Barre, the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation H.E Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, and other Federal leaders attended the Principles for Peace Launch in Somalia.
“It is imperative that we proceed with meticulous care to ensure stability in recently liberated regions. And we must implement tangible measures to fortify our country”, His Excellency Ahmed Mo’allim Fiqi, Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation.
“Somalia stands at a critical juncture in its history. Our country continues to deal with complex issues. including the ongoing threat posed by different groups to our peace and stability”, His Excellency Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation.
Ms. Khadija Osoble Ali, who is a Board Member of the Principles for Peace Foundation, gave her remarks during the launch. Saying that the people of Somalia are tired of decades of war and are now ready for lasting peace.
“The African Union reiterates its unwavering commitment to supporting Somalia’s peace and security”, Amb. Mohamed El-Amine Souef, Head of ATMIS Somalia.
“Peace in Somalia and peace in the region are intertwined, and peace in Somalia will pay big dividends for the region as a whole”, Catriona Laing, United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General.
Ms. Hiba Qasas, the Executive Director of the Principles for Peace Foundation, thanked the government of Somalia and the Civil Society for their commitment to reconciliation and peace. Adding that peace is the single most important thing in any community.
