Consultation and Review Workshop of the Wadajir Framework

 

The Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation H.E Ahmed Moallim Fiqi opened the Consultation and Review Workshop of the Wadajir Framework.

 

In attendance were DGs of the FMS Ministries of Interior, the Banadir Regional Administration, Mayors, and more.

 

“The processes of establishing local councils unveiled challenges and gaps in the Wadajir Framework. We are here to revise and address those shortcomings.”

“Where are we six years later? Have we reached the goal of establishing functional and permanent district councils and local administrations? What worked? What didn’t? These are the questions we need to ask ourselves in the two days we are here together.”

Speaking on behalf of the DGs of the Federal Member States, DG Mustaf Abdullahi of the Southwest Ministry of Interior talked about the importance of the Wadajir Framework in establishing long term solutions in local governance.

Sadia Mohamed Omar then took participants through the agenda and objectives of the two-day workshop, highlighting plans to discuss the gaps and lessons learnt from the Wadajir Framework.

 

Followed by presentations and group discussions on the Wadajir Framework.

 

The Mayor of Kismayo Hon. Omar Abdullahi Mohamed (Farawayne) spoke about the importance of this workshop when it comes to improving service delivery at local levels of government.

 

And the Mayor of Jowhar Hon. Osman Mohamed Mukhtar also touched on the importance of decentralization and service delivery at day one of the Consultation and Review Workshop of the Wadajir Framework.
