The First Ever National Civil Society and Government Institutions Cooperation Forum

Mogadishu, 24th Oct 2023, This Morning, the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation H.E Ahmed Moallim Fiqi is joined by Federal Ministers, Members of Parliament, and heads of Civil Society Organizations for the first ever National Civil Society and Government Institutions Cooperation Forum.

The Director General of the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, Aidarus Moallim Hassan kicked things off, welcoming all attendants and talking about the importance of this forum as Somalia forges its path to social, political and economic development.

 

 

The Chairman of Non-Governmental Organizations of Somali Non-State Actors (SONSA) Mr. Osman Shatah then thanked the Minister of Interior for bringing together the civil society organizations and government institutions, creating a much-needed partnership.

 

 

 

Also Speaking at the forum, the Minister of Youth and Sport, H.E. Mohamed Barre, talked about the role played by the Civil Society Organizations during the civil war, adding that they held society together during a difficult period.

 

 

 

“It is an honor and a privilege for us to have you all here today, this forum will lead to milestones in state-building, peacebuilding, reconciliation, stabilization, and democratization”, – H.E Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation.

The forum included presentations on Stabilization, Reconciliation, Elections and the National ID efforts of the Federal government, utilizing group discussions to find ways of strengthening the partnerships between the Civil Society and Government.

 

 

 

 

“This Forum is a call to action, a call to join hands and hearts in forging a brighter, more peaceful future for our beloved nation”, – His Excellency Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation.

 

 

The two-day forum was held in Mogadishu and brought together civil society representatives from all the Federal Member states, with Somaliland’s Roda Abdullahi Hassan presenting her organization’s priorities to the federal government and stated the importance of a united national agenda.

 

 

 

 

The forum was officially closed on the 24th day of October with official closing remarks from the Deputy Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation H.E Abdihakim Ashkir.
