In his opening remarks, the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation H.E Ahmed Moallim Fiqi stated that the main purpose of this gathering is to create a platform for the Mayors to discuss their shared goals and challenges.

thanked Minister Fiqi for leading this important meeting. Adding that as the state leading liberation operations, Hirshabelle are at a crucial stage, one in which service delivery and decentralization are key.

Sebastian May, Head of Programmes, UN-HABITAT stated that as leaders of cities and communities, the mayors in attendance have common goals and challenges, and that this kind of gathering will foster fruitful discussions that foster the progress.

 

This was followed by presentations and group discussions covering various topics such as service delivery, taxation and more.
