This week, MoIFAR’s reconciliation team led by Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation His Excellency Ahmed Mo;allim Fiqi were in the Peer Learning Programme covering conflict mapping, conflict analysis, and peacebuilding in Somalia. Also in attendance were representatives from Somalia’s Federal Member States and the Banadir Regional Administration.
The Peer Learning Programme aims to boost the conflict mapping, analyzing, and planning capacities of federal and state level reconciliation and conflict resolution actors.
In his opening remarks the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation His Excellency Ahmed Mo’allim Fiqi thanked the representatives from Somalia’s different regions and states for their continued efforts and commitment to the reconciliation efforts of the country.
Touching on the conflict in Lasanood, the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation Minister Ahmed Mo’allim Fiqi reiterated the government’s stand calling for an immediate ceasefire and a peaceful solution to this conflict.
Lastly, Minister Ahmed Fiqi talked about the importance of the Somalia Conflict Navigator, an intergovernmental platform that stores, analyses and safeguards Somalia’s data on conflict mapping, conflict analysis, reconciliation and peacebuilding.
For his part, UNDP Somalia’s Resident Representative Mr Jocelyn Mason expressed his appreciation towards the leadership of the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation and their commitment to lasting peace.
