Launching the National Local Governance Coordination Meeting

This morning, the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation is set to launch the National Local Governance Coordination Meeting under the theme: “Strengthening collaboration for inclusive, accountable, resilient, and well-coordinated local governance in Somalia.”

The meeting brings together representatives from Galmudug, Hirshabelle, Jubaland, and Southwest State, SSC Khatumo and BRA to exchange experiences, discuss challenges, and showcase progress in advancing local governance, and service delivery across their respective regions.

H.E. Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation officially opened the National Local Governance Coordination Meeting, themed “Strengthening Cooperation and Collaboration to Achieve Responsible, Resilient, and Service-Oriented Local Governments.”

During the opening of the National Local Governance Coordination Meeting, the Director General of the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation emphasized the vital role of effective coordination in achieving inclusive, accountable, and resilient local governments.

At the National Local Governance Coordination Meeting, the Director General of Galmudug provided key updates on the state’s ongoing efforts to strengthen local governance, advance electoral preparations, and enhance service delivery at the district level.

Moreover, the Director General of Hirshabelle State emphasized the critical role these discussions play in advancing governance, peace, and development across Somalia.

The Director General of SSC-Khatumo State took the floor as well at the National Local Governance Coordination Meeting to provide key updates on the state’s emerging efforts in governance, stabilization, and public service delivery.

In Addition, Senior Local Governance Advisor, Sadia Saylac delivered a presentation on the latest developments across Somalia. Her briefing highlighted key areas such as the finalization of the Wadajir Framework, the Fiscal Decentralization Strategy, and other important initiatives.

The Meeting concluded with Abdirahman Ali Abdi, Senior Local Governance Advisor, Briefing Participants on the Terms of Reference for the National Local Government Coordination Meeting.
