The Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hon. Ali Yussuf Ali (Xoosh), who also serves as Chair of the National Independence and Unity Days Planning Committee, presided over a key coordination meeting ahead of the 65th anniversary commemorations of Somalia’s Independence and Unity Days — marked annually on June 26 and July 1.
The meeting, held at the Somali Police Force Headquarters, brought together senior government officials to discuss the significance of these historic national days and to review ongoing preparations for commemorative events planned both inside the country and among the Somali diasporas.
The discussions emphasized inter-institutional coordination, public engagement, and the dignified celebration of these landmark dates in Somalia’s history.
Participants included the state minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, the State Minister of Education, the state minister for Security, the Commander of the Somali Police Force, as well as directors and senior officials from key ministries and government agencies involved in organizing the national celebrations.
The Ministry remains committed to ensuring the 65th anniversary of Independence and Unity is commemorated in a manner that reflects national pride, unity, and the resilience of the Somali people.
