The Minister of State for the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation (MoIFAR), H.E. Sadad Alio, participated in a high-level conference held in Mogadishu and organized by the Ministry.
The event brought together Somali traditional elders and key stakeholders to discuss the acceleration of voter registration and the collective responsibility in safeguarding national security.
The conference was also attended by the Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, H.E. Mohamed Ahmed Aamir, the Deputy Governor for Security and Politics, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Diriye (Yabooh), as well as other regional officials.
In his address, Minister Sadad Alio underscored the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring the realization of a one-person, one-vote electoral system—empowering citizens to directly shape their political future. He reiterated the government’s stance against reverting to indirect elections and urged all eligible citizens to register and actively participate in the democratic process.
The Minister also emphasized the vital role of traditional elders in the fight against extremist groups. He called for enhanced collaboration and unified national efforts to eliminate terrorism and protect the sovereignty of the country.
MoIFAR remains steadfast in its mission to promote inclusive governance, reconciliation, and long-term peace across the Federal Republic of Somalia.
