MoIFAR Hosts Quarterly Stabilization and Early Recovery Technical Working Group Meeting

 

The Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation (MoIFAR) convened its quarterly Stabilization and Early Recovery Technical Working Group Meeting this morning in Mogadishu, bringing together key national and international stakeholders to review progress, share insights, and align priorities in Somalia’s stabilization and recovery efforts.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Aidarus Mohamed Hassan, Director General of MoIFAR, underscored the importance of decentralization as a core component of effective stabilization:

“Decentralization in stabilization is not just about forming district councils—it is about building accountable systems and robust institutions that can deliver for the people.”

Presentations and Technical Updates

The meeting featured two key presentations:

• The Policy Coordinator of MoIFAR Ms. Idil Abdi Mohamed presented an overview of the current state of stabilization in Somalia, highlighting progress achieved, key challenges, and opportunities for sustainable recovery.

• Mr. Ramadan Elmi, Moifar’s Stabilization Coordinator, delivered a detailed presentation on recent stabilization assessments, providing valuable insights into the evolving landscape and needs across regions.

Stakeholder Engagement and Inter-Ministerial Coordination Representatives from various federal institutions shared updates on their stabilization initiatives, emphasizing the importance of strong inter-ministerial collaboration to drive results and build resilience in conflict-affected areas.

The meeting also welcomed active participation from Somalia’s international partners, including the European Union, United Kingdom, IOM, UNDP, Norway, Sweden, and other key organizations committed to advancing stabilization and early recovery in Somalia.
