This morning, the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation successfully hosted this month’s Communications for Stabilization Taskforce meeting in Mogadishu, bringing together communications directors from key government institutions and the Somali National Army.
The meeting which was chaired by the State Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation H.E. Sadad Alio served as a strategic platform to assess and align messaging around the ongoing Stabilization and Early Recovery initiatives led by the Government of Somalia.
The meeting kicked off with remarks from Abdiaziz Gurbiye, Director of Communications and Public Engagement at MoIFAR, who highlighted the critical role of coordinated communication in advancing stabilization efforts.
Idil A. Sabrie, Chief Policy Advisor at the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, touched on the broader stabilization landscape, drawing attention to the ongoing funding challenges and liberation setbacks affecting implementation.
In a presentation, Stabilization Coordinator, Ramadan Elmi shared a comprehensive overview of the government’s current stabilization and early recovery interventions. Highlighting key achievements made through joint efforts between federal and state authorities.
Mohamed Muse of the Somali National Army (SNA) provided an update on ongoing counterterrorism operations and recent liberation efforts. He outlined key military gains and emphasized the importance of aligning these advances with immediate stabilization support to secure lasting progress in newly recovered areas.
During the meeting, communications directors from the Ministries of Information, Justice, Religious Affairs, and other key institutions provided updates on their respective communication efforts in support of stabilization in newly liberated areas.
The Director General of the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation (MoIFAR) commended the Communications for Stabilization Taskforce for its continued dedication and active engagement in advancing stabilization and early recovery efforts across Somalia.
In his closing remarks, H.E. Sadad Alio called for renewed commitment and concrete action to accelerate stabilization and early recovery efforts. He urged all stakeholders to move beyond discussions and focus on delivering tangible results that directly impact communities in newly liberated areas.
