The Minister of Interior Federal Affairs and Reconciliation H.E Ahmed Moallim Fiqi received a delegation led by the UNDP Somalia Resident Representative Lionel Laurens for a discussion on Somalia’s Joint Programmed on Local Governance (JPLG).

 

Local Governance Experts from both UNDP and the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation presented local governance challenges and ways forward.

 

“JPLG has been in Somalia for the last fifteen years, but a lot has changed in that time. Many Somalis are experiencing liberation for the first time in those fifteen years, there is a whole new context in Somalia, and the programmed should adjust to it.”

The UNDP Somalia Resident Representative Lionel Laurens stated that his office is committed to working on the government’s priorities and taking a holistic approach to supporting local governance in the current context.
