The Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation H.E Ahmed Moallim Fiqi opened the Stakeholder Meeting on Elections (NCC Electoral Agreement). In attendance are the different levels of the government, political parties, and civil society representatives.
“In May of this year, the leadership of our country reached a historic agreement to put the vote and the voice in the hands of the people of Somalia. Our discussions here today will contribute to the implementation of that agreement” – H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation.
This followed up by remarks from the Director General of the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation Aidarus Moallim Hassan who spoke on the importance of this consultation on the implementation process of the NCC Electoral Agreement.
Presentations from MoIFAR’s Inclusive Politics Coordinator, Mohamed Abdikadir Mohamud took participants through the history of Somali elections as well as the NCC Electoral Agreement’s Implementation Roadmap. And Panel discussions with Mrs. Duniya Mohamed Ali Arshaan, Prof. Mohamed Hussein Isse (Liban), Adam Sheikh Hassan Hilowle, and Abdirizak Bashir covered the reasons behind the NCC Electoral Agreement.
To conclude day one of the Stakeholder Meeting on Elections (NCC Electoral Agreement), we were joined by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs H.E Hassan Moallin.

Day two of the Stakeholder Meeting on Elections (NCC Electoral Agreement) was also chaired by the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation H.E Ahmed Moallim Fiqi and attended by Somalia’s election stakeholders, actors and partners.
“We cannot continue to have elections that are run by a select few, elections that violate the rights and priories of the people of Somalia and this agreement aims to get us out of that toxic four-year circle”, – H.E Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation.
MoIFAR’s senior advisor Dr. Abdalla Sahid then took participants through the achievements and challenges of the implementation process of the NCC Electoral Agreement. Followed by a question-and-answer session led by H.E Ahmed Moallim Fiqi. And panel discussions on the Key Aspects of the NCC Electoral Agreement were moderated by Prof. Abdurahman Abdullahi Baadiyow with participation from the NCC Secretariate Members.

Finally, Day two of the Stakeholder Meeting on Elections (NCC Electoral Agreement) was concluded with questions and remarks from Somalia’s election partners such as the Integrated Electoral Support Group (IESG) and others, with official closing remarks from the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation thanking participants for their valuable input these past two days.
