On August 24, 2023, The Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi presided over a peace deal reached between the Salebaan Abdalle-Surre and Sheikhal communities from the districts of Afbarwako and Tawfiq in Eastern Mudug.
The reconciled communities exchanged peace offerings in an event led by Sultan Hassan Moallim Saeed, Garaad jama’a Issa Hirsi, and a group of 20 mediators.
In his official remarks, the Minister of Interior, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, applauded the reconciliation of these two brotherly communities and urged that they both uphold the agreements reached. Further, the minister encouraged that they avoid further conflicts.
