On August 17, 2023, in Mudug, Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation, convened a meeting to strengthen the peace in Mudug Region, particularly between the brotherly communities of Saad and Lailkase.
Speaking at the forum, the Minister of Interior assured both sides that the Federal Government of Somalia will support all peace efforts in the Mudug Region as with the rest of the country.
The traditional elders of the two communities expressed the importance of this forum and requested that the government assist them in finalizing the historic 2020 agreement between the two communities.
Also in attendance, members of the Federal Parliament, including Hon. Abdulsalam Ahmed Liban and Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammad Mahmoud, as well as the Administrations of Mudug and Galkayo.
